I didn't have the heart to watch the video but I hope it mentioned that the best strategy just might be not buying your kids the slutty outfits in the first place.

The wallpaper border on the base cabinets really adds a touch of class to the place.

You need a cute filler video? This one made my ovaries burst.

It would be nice to see an Intervention episode where someone confronts Leann about her hair. Seriously, she needs a flat iron and some product.

I wouldn't give Clinton any credit for the economy unless you also acknowledge the repeal of Glass Steagall that happened on his watch, the unrestrained fed chairmanship of Greenspan and the internet bubble, etc. etc.

The Illuminati are meeting tonight with the Freemasons and this crisis will be over by Monday - guaranteed.

It takes major cajones for a Vanderbilt to criticize the titans of industry. Kudos Anderson.

Thank God all of my money is in student loans.

Posted by: westvillager on October 9, 2008 3:39 PM

You forgot to mention the fed keeping interest rates at unnaturally low levels which caused investors to seek out higher yeilding (and riskier) securities.

Memo to YouDouche - the bailout and the Lehman severances are different issues. The severances (which go to most laid off employees including the mailroom guy and secretaries) are cancelled because of the bankruptcy case.

The bailout plan will use treasury funds to buy illiquid securities from financial institutions. Kinda not the same thing.

The bailout plan also doesn't stop golden parachutes already in effect - it just puts limits on golden parachutes that can be signed from here on out.

Clearly this app was written by a man. The female app would have a pop up window that says "You shouldn't send this. Why? Because you're smart enough, you're pretty enough and he never deserved you anyway. If you loved yourself, you would click cancel."

If they would've shorted the Euro they wouldn't have lost so much on the weakness of the dollar. Short-selling - now approved by the vatican.

This guy's commitment to capitalism in its purest form puts Rupert Murdoch to shame.

But the revised bill contained tax breaks for America's vital wooden-arrow-making industry. If that doesn't stop us from sinking into a depression I don't know what will.

I'm confused. Doesn't the fact that the Nebraska abortion rate is 9% less than than national average mean that people there ARE living out the culture of life?

I challenge that bear to try a 6" tuna on wheat with southwest sauce and tell me it's not pretty damn good.

The video does make you ponder what the Somali government's response would be if pirates hijacked the HMS Pinafore and its precious, precious cargo of theatre geighs.

You're making my ovaries hurt.

Seems unlikely that someone who has worked this hard to claw her way to the top would get out when Topper's investments are in the tank. Better to cash out when the market is up. Even Tinz knows that.

You left out the best part - Biden and Obama voted for the bridge to nowhere.

Posted by: westvillager on September 26, 2008 1:33 PM

WTF? That comment by Hasting is the biggest non-sequitur we've had this campaign. How does moose hunting have an effect on whether someone cares about what "they" do the jews and blacks. Also, who's they? The moose? Wolves? Russia? I'm confused.

Also, if I were a republican operative I would counter this with a bunch of ads that say a vote for McCain is a vote for Israel.

Posted by: westvillager on September 25, 2008 12:43 PM

Can you blame them? It was just a few months ago that we found out Clay was willing to sperminate frumpy, childless 49 year old women. Now that we know it was done turkey-baster style I don't blame anyone for shedding a few tears.

Posted by: westvillager on September 24, 2008 1:49 PM

I think this is a huge step forward for female politicians. If the men can screw around while in office - the ladies can too!

Posted by: westvillager on September 24, 2008 1:31 PM

Great stuff - except that investment banks didn't make any residential mortgages. They invested in mortgage backed securities. Often using lots of leverage. Post-Enron mark-to-market rules require them to fair value these mortgage backed securities. Since nobody knows exactly what they're worth (but they know they are worth less than the were purchased for) it causes turmoil on the balance sheet. So to stop the process of these banks holding onto volatile assets which causes volatility on wall street (remember, no one can value Morgan Stanley unless they can quantify their losses on mortgage backed securities) the government said they will buy these assets so we all know what the final losses will be.

Most of these mortgage backed securities don't mature until the 2030s. At that time the government will know exactly what the losses will be.

Sure, there's moral hazard involved for the banks. But remember, most have already suffered staggering losses, bankruptcy, loss of independence and now are essential submitting to future regulation.

Remember, there will also be moral hazard for homeowners (you know those people who took out mortgages on houses they can't afford) if the government tells them that it's okay they made foolish financial decisions - we'll bail you out too.

Posted by: westvillager on September 22, 2008 3:07 PM

Usually I disagree with your financial commentary but today you are spot on. It's not over. Not even close. Up next will be the fall of the last two independent investment banks, the fall of WaMu and the failure of many, many, many hedge funds.

If you are going to use a racially inflamatory term you should at least use it right. Why would the Obama's every refer to themselves as "uppity"? Silly cracker. You are referring to them as uppity.

To be fair to Sarah, I bet 95% of middle-aged white guys in Alaska look like that.

Until MsSwan and Yoko weighed in I was definitely going to vote McCain. Now that I know the facts I'm voting Obama.

Unrelated - can someone moderate around here? I may be the first to get cut but at least I will have died for a good cause.

Was I the only one who was confused as the contestants stood in the middle of the DVF store looking suprised to see Diane walk down the stairs? They just had walked through the door to the store with a three foot high "DVF" logo emblazzed on it.

He should do a picture book similar to Madonna's 'Sex' and it will sell like hotcakes.

I would've preferred: "If Crist doesn't get the VP nod, he's shaving off his beard - if you know what I mean."

Posted by: westvillager on August 27, 2008 11:33 AM

Team Crone. If Elizabeth didn't want this piece of personal business splashed all over the tabloids she should've told John not to run for president. By Edward's own timeline, Elizabeth knew about this before he announced his candidacy. They are both smart enough to know that running for president would make the story more likely to come out.

Doesn't make her less of a victim on the personal homefront, but on the political front she was (most likely) part of the coverup.

Thank god for this video. I was having a bit of animal video withdrawal. The best part is how, after the entire police force of Tokyo is mobilized to catch the damn thing, it still gets away. Makes me wonder about their Godzilla catchin skills.

Who knew stuff like this existed? The "I don't know what to believe comment" actually made me laugh out loud.

PS - you called Tea "Tina" at one point. You better change that before the mob comes over here with their pitchforks.

I recently saw a first rate piece of propoganda from the Chinese goverment about China's first man in space. The whole "documentary" was a celebration of what a monumentus occassion this was but they glossed over the fact that the U.S. and Russia put men in orbit 40 years earlier.

Olive Garden should embrace Kendra. Their new slogan could be: "You can eat here and not get fat!"

"Mistresser"? Not sugar-daddy, consort, paramour, back door man, sancho or mantress?

No dimples in my ice. In fact, it's also recommended by Cosmo as the number one ice to please your man. The last thing you want to do in the sack is ruin the mood by using an ice cube from your freezer's ice machine.

Until you've tasted ice that has been harvested by hand by the Amish from Pinchot Lake, stored underground in organic sawdust until a piece of your specifications is chiseled off by hand and driven to your front door in a truck that runs on the fuel made from penguin poop - you haven't lived.

Posted by: westvillager on August 11, 2008 2:56 PM

You didn't blurb the best part:
"Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going public but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him."
Hah! I love it. As long as these people (whom he doesn't know) keep paying Rielle (whom he doesn't love) money (that he didn't authorize) there never will be a paternity test. At least he's done something right in this whole fiasco.

Posted by: westvillager on August 8, 2008 3:32 PM

The report advocated against the Federal Reserve agreeing to step in if a hedge fund screws up so badly that the entire financial markets are threatened by its impending failure. I have to agree with them. Why would I want my tax dollars to bail out a fund that has gotten itself into trouble? This is not "regulation of hedge funds." This is a promise by the government to bail out private parties if they fuck up. I say let them fail. Let the investment banks know that you are going to let hedge funds fail. That way the investment banks are going to be more prudent when chosing their counterparties. And isn't counterparty risk really what the report is all about?

Posted by: westvillager on August 8, 2008 11:54 AM

Sorry about that! I'm trying to work AND leave comments on your little website AND fantasize about giving you a BJ at the same time. Next time I'll leave the fantasizing out of it....

Posted by: westvillager on August 7, 2008 4:59 PM

Good to know. I'll start hitting the bars on Third Ave tonight armed with the knowledge that my whore factor will be unaffected.

Are BJs equal to one-half of a partner or do they just not count at all?

Posted by: westvillager on August 7, 2008 3:55 PM

I'd trust a poll on Above the Law about as much as a poll on TMZ.

Also, these so-called "stealth" lay offs even at their worst aren't as bad as they sound. There were rumors at my firm that a few of the merit based firings were actually lay offs. Five people were let go under questionable circumstances in a firm of more than 400.

But please don't let this put a damper on your moral outrage.
