Scientologists Rip Page From 'Anonymous' Playbook

Above, the Church of Scientology finally realizes that the best way to deal with a bunch of cyber protesters whose primary agency of attack is YouTube is to start posting videos yourself.

"Anonymous—Hate Crimes & Terrorism Directed at Scientology," posted by a Church-affiliated user known as "AnonymousFacts," is twice as glossy as anything put out by Anonymous but only half as effective. After all, claims that Anonymous is "dangerous" sort of fall flat given that most protests have been overwhelmingly peaceful. Come to think of it, the only act of violence we can remember is some poor dude in Ohio getting hit by a bus, and the Church's reaction to that wasn't exactly sympathetic.

Another Scientology effort to clamp down on Anonymous also hit a snag. The Church had filed an injunction to limit tomorrow's planned protests outside of Church headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, but it was thrown out by a judge who claimed that the relevant Florida statue does not apply to corporations.

Meanwhile, the scrappy Anonymous underdogs keep on trucking along. Yesterday, they posted emails from Mark Kaplan of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, a Scientology-backed anti-psychiatry group, in which Kaplan requests that members not vote for Clearwater mayoral candidate Rita Garvey because she is an "SP." (Another Kaplan email mentions CCHR's support for former crazy presidential candidate Ron Paul because of his efforts to make it illegal to use federal dollars to perform mental health screenings.) All well and good, but a violation of federal law which dictates that tax-exempt organizations such as CCHR "may not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

There is a beautiful parity in seeing a ridiculous religion get taken down by a ridiculous internet movement. Member of anonymous, my psychic energy goes out to you.

The "church" has resorted to making false bomb threats now because they failed twice to get a restraining order against the peaceful protesters.

The same youtube accounts that these videos are showing up in have been giving out protesters names and locations, this is completely irresponsible and can only be seen as calling for their members or someone else to harm these people.

What kind of "church" would do such a thing, Does the Church of Scientology not see that harrasing or harming these protesters is not a good PR move.

The "church" should end it's "fair game" criminal policy's these actions are monstrous and outrages.

There is no "Church," it's a pyramidal corporation dreamed up by a delusional sociopath to cheat depressed people out of their money and sanity. Protest today, March 15th, at your local Scientology center. Show up and end this stupidity.

Clearly, the "Anonymous" geeks ARE potentially dangerous. Mailing white powder to churches is tantamount to terrorism. Prank phone calls and ordering pizzas to be sent to churches may sound harmless and silly, but it's part of a serious pathological behavior that could go further when these antisocial kids get bored with that.

Not to mention innocent people who don't approve of "Anonymous" are instantly accused of being Scientologists themselves (as if that's a crime anyway!) and are harassed online as well as in person. Being a Scientologist is not a crime, and defending Scientology from haters is even less of a crime. But some people have already had their reputations besmirched by anonymous cowards over just that.

If the Scientologists are really doing something wrong, all these losers should be able to convince at least one policeman, at least one senator, at least one mayor, at least one government staffer, at least one FBI agent, somebody, ANYBODY in power who might listen to your conspiracy theories. There's no need to protest like obnoxious hippies outside churches if you really and truly have a case against Scientology.

Go through the proper law enforcement channels and get something REAL done if you really can prove wrongdoing. And if you can't prove wrongdoing, then what the hell are you doing picketing churches and slandering innocent people online?

I guess now informing people is crime. The Church of Scientology is also not a person, nor a group of people. It is a corporation, with an authoritarian system of influence to its employees, and customers. No individual Scientologists have been attacked. In fact, it is becoming individual members of the Anonymous movement that are now becoming victim of personal slander, as well as threats to their safety (and well being). As an not-for-profit religious organization, it is also true that it is a non governmental organization. This would therefore indicate the Church of Scientology would now fall under what is known as the RICO act (as defined in the Cornell University's Legal Information Institute U.S. Code collection). The church has committed violations of several sections defining activity that constitutes an organization actually following under the RICO act. Instead of trying to stand up for this corporation of psychological intimidation, why not choose to think for yourself and become aware of the truth.

We never mailed that white powder. We where all Wtfing at when it happened. We never made the bomb threats, as a matter of fact we laughed at Scientology said nitro glycerine; "Wait how many of us would ACTUALLy be able to handle that shit" "Not me" "None of us?". Nitro glycerine is extremely volatile, none of us would touch that shit.

As for the accusations yeah we have to be careful..Especially when those "normal citizens" are asking us to take our masks off and to take photos. Scientology has a KNOWN history of attacking his critics (google operation freak out etc..) Time magazine has jumped on them BBC jumped on them FUCKING 60 min jumped on them..Educate yourself Mr. Nostril.

We are not against the beliefs of scientology, We are against the payements for enlightenment, we are against the Cult Of Scientology harrassing it's critics, making up lies about its critics etc etc.

Once again. Mr Nostril, EDUCATE YOURSELF. we can't go through normal channels because WE will run out of money in legal fees before they do. They have a known tactic of tying up any accusations against them in court basically sapping people of money.

I would be very interested in seeing secondary sources that document that, in fact, the group known as 'Anonymous', has been accused of this and are currently being investigated. Also, who, besides the Church of Scientology, has referred to this group as terrorists, or "cyber-terrorists"?

You also claim that these people are "geeks". To which people do you apply this rather broad generalization? Or is it only that of your own speculation?

I have also seen many images and news sources contrary to the "antisocial kids" of which you speak. You also mention "serious pathological behavior". Curiously, what specific mental affliction(s) are you referring to?

No, it is not a crime to be a Scientologist. However, my own research has lead me to the conclusion that whomever they do "accuse" of being a Scientologist, more than likely is. For they are usually pro Scientology beliefs and often attack and criticize the motives of 'Anonymous' with very similar words to your own. While I will maintain that many of 'Anonymous' may be rather brash, and jump to conclusions, they, for the most part, seem to be relatively perceptive.

Why are anonymous people cowards? And who's reputations have they besmirched?

Interestingly enough, that very thing has happened: http://news.monstersandcritics.com/usa/news/article_1372003.php/Mega_ministries_tax_exemption_status_may_be_thing_of_the_past

And obnoxious hippies you say... I find it interesting that you're now rife with antagonistic associations with history.

If you wish, I implore you to do some research based from the information contained in this article:

I've given you the means, now as 'BurgerKingAnonOttawa' suggests: "EDUCATE YOURSELF."

The article itself was well written and gave me some insight into this whole 'thing'.

I am a former Scientologist still inside the Church (but no longer a believer). I was there when they tried to destroy Paulette Cooper (google Operation Freakout)

I remained silent then lest they come after me next, but I can no longer do so in good conscience. I don't have much time left on this earth and I want to go out fighting the most dangerous cult in existence. Unfortunately we all looked at the holocaust images and said "never again!" only to ignore the rise of a nazi-like organization like Scientology. We ignored them because they were well dressed. We ignored them because they had money. We ignored them because they had celebrities. But worst of all we ignored them because they called other people nazis first. Projecting much? Red herring? You bet.

I am currently doing what I can on the inside to gather incriminating evidence against David Miscavige and his goons. Once the tax exempt status is removed (as it should have never even existed) the Church will crumble under its own weight, and low level Scientologists will realize they have been conned. But as soon as that can happens they can move on to productive things

Watch this and decide for yourselves, don't let the Church do it for you
