Prada Leaves Copycats Panting

Nobody knows women's pants like Miuccia Prada, one of the most oft-imitated designers working today. Which made the glaring lack of trousers in her most recent Milan show more than a bit unnerving to certain fashion followers. On September 26, Prada sent models dressed in tops and satin knickers down the catwalk, but not a single slack, pantaloon, or dungaree capable of "inspiring" other designers.

What's a copycat to do?

Stefano Pilati tried drop-crotch "Hammer pants," which Sarah Mower of style.com charitably proclaimed to be, "not quite there."

Prada brushed off inquiries about her bottom-less bombshell with classic flair: "I just didn't like anything I did below the waist," she told Style.com.

Thankfully, Prada returned to the catwalk this past Sunday in Paris to set the pant-tone for countless wannabes worldwide. The first model who strolled down the runway at her Miu Miu show sported a sensibly high-waisted pair which, while tapered, had nothing remotely Hammer-esque about them.

Can't touch this, indeed.
