• ... Have you heard? Kate Bosworth is, like, super skinny. According to Star, the Superman Returns starlet's Praying Mantis look for fall was a totally major reason for her breakup with expressionless dreamboat Orlando Bloom.

"He'd literally coax her to eat off his plate!" a friend shrieks to the magazine. "But there was only so much he could do." And yet, in a snake-eats-its-own-tail twist, Star also blames the strain of being in a failing relationship for "stressing Kate out to the point that she had no appetite." Fuck 'em, Kate. You can't win...

• ... Smokey Fontaine's reinvention of Giant as an urban music mag doesn't seem to be going over too well with the people who were already working there when he arrived. Executive editor Alison Prato quit yesterday for a job as entertainment director of Maxim.

That means no fewer than seven people on the August/September issue's masthead are no longer at the magazine. Among them is ex-publisher Michael Provus, now ad director of Vanity Fair. It's never a good sign when folks will slide a few rungs down the ladder just to get out.
